Together with Him

“…whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.” (1 Thessalonians 5:10)

In speaking of Christ’s work on the cross, Paul explains that one of the benefits of His death and resurrection to the believer, is that we will spend eternity together with Him. In the preceding chapter (1 Thessalonians 4:14-18) he further notes what “together” means. The “dead in Christ”, who “sleep in Jesus”, and of course the “Lord Himself” will be joined by those who are “alive and remain” to “ever be with the Lord.” This wonderful triunity, each portion of which serves as a glorifying aspect of the saving, sanctifying, and resurrecting power of the Lord Jesus, will truly be “together” for all eternity.

What a comfort it is to know that loved ones who have fallen asleep in the arms of their Savior will one day be re-united with us in the presence of the Lord.

"they fell alusting"

"...and they fell alusting: and the children of Israel also wept again and said, 'Who shall give us flesh to eat...?'" (Numbers 11:4)

Tired of the manna from heaven, these people began to weep over how bad they wanted a good square meal. It almost seems silly and childish that grown folk could cry over not getting their way...yet how often do we exhibit this attitude toward the Lord?

I have been motivated to search my heart and ask God to reveal to the ways in which I act like this towards Him.

O God, have mercy upon me, a sinner.

"turn to the Living God"

“You should turn…unto the Living God, Who made heaven, and earth and the sea, and all things that are therein…” (Acts 14:15)

Just as Paul and Barnabas urged the ancient Lycaonians to seek their Creator, the Lord Jesus, we too, who believe on Christ should urge others to seek Him Who “made the world and all things therein…”

You will Endure

"You laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the works of Your hands. They shall perish, but You will endure..." (Psalm 102)

Praise The Lord that we worship an ominipotent, Eternal, loving, personal, Creator God. Though His judgement upon sin is fierce, He has provided a way to live eternally with Him by punishing His only Son in our stead. Hallelujah, What a Savior...

Who made Heaven and Earth...

"My help comes from The Lord, Who made heaven and earth." Psalm 121:2

Just as Jonah (Jonah 1:9) and Paul (Acts 17:24), and the angels in heaven (Revelation 4:11) acknowledge God as the Creator of all things, God Himself also introduces Himself throughout scripture as the Creator. The Gospel truly begins with "in the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth..."
