Together with Him

“…whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.” (1 Thessalonians 5:10)

In speaking of Christ’s work on the cross, Paul explains that one of the benefits of His death and resurrection to the believer, is that we will spend eternity together with Him. In the preceding chapter (1 Thessalonians 4:14-18) he further notes what “together” means. The “dead in Christ”, who “sleep in Jesus”, and of course the “Lord Himself” will be joined by those who are “alive and remain” to “ever be with the Lord.” This wonderful triunity, each portion of which serves as a glorifying aspect of the saving, sanctifying, and resurrecting power of the Lord Jesus, will truly be “together” for all eternity.

What a comfort it is to know that loved ones who have fallen asleep in the arms of their Savior will one day be re-united with us in the presence of the Lord.
